Wine as a Sensory Experience
Great wines deserve our full attention. In this tasting experience, we’ll delve deep into techniques for using all of our senses to appreciate the unique, subtle characteristic of each wine.
Perfecting the Cheese Plate
From Smoked Gouda to Tomme to Maytag Blue to Parmesan, there is a wealth of amazing cheeses from around the world. In this hands-on class with one of our favorite local cheesemongers, we’ll explore the history, production, and flavor of five exceptional cheeses that come together to create a perfect cheese plate.
Lunch Session: The art of pairings
Join Stone Tower’s own Sommelier to explore the art of pairing food and wine over lunch. We’ll examine the perfection of classic pairings, why some just don’t work, and the new world of adventurous pairings and unexpected flavors.
In February, our vines are dormant and leafless, but there is a whole world of growth going on beneath the surface. Weather permitting, we’ll venture out into our 60+ acres of vineyards for some hands-on winter pruning and discussion on the growth and life cycle of the vine. We’ll also examine Stone Tower’s rocky soils and explore the meaning of terroir.
Creating Exceptional Bordeaux-Style Blends
In this hands-on tasting experience with our Winemaker Tim Crowe, we’ll examine barrel samples of single varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot from our 2016 vintage. Each year, we put together our flagship blends in March, and in this session, we’ll experiment with creating blends and explore the different characteristics each varietal brings to the wines.
On Friday evening, join Stone Tower's owners, Mike & Kristi Huber, and Winemaker Tim Crowe to enjoy a four-course pairing dinner created by Lansdowne's incomparable Chef Marcus Repp.
Meat, Fire & Wine
After a full day of exploring food & wine, you'll be ready to enjoy a leisurely evening by the fire, either inside, or out by our fire pits if the weather allows. Enjoy a variety of grilled meats from local favorite, Lothar's Gourmet Sausages, fresh bread, salads, and wine of course, as we relax and unwind.
Sparkling Somminar brunch
Enjoy perfectly paired small plates while we explore the wide world of sparkling with nine wines from around the globe! We'll examine the methods of sparkling wine production along with the history and flavor profiles of the famous examples including Champagne, Prosecco, Cava, and more.
